Many people have asked me about ways that they can market their business or event very cost efficiently. In this slower economy we are all looking for ways to improve our bottom line and enhance our business. We want to bring more clients in the door without spending a grundle to do it. There are always the traditional realms of advertising such as Newspaper, Television, Radio, and Billboard. Right now you can get some pretty good deals with those mediums, however, we must also take advantage of the free adverising and targeted advertising that we can bring to our business. I have two recent posts that focus all around directories and online yellowpage listings that your business can take advantage for free.
The avenue that I want to look at today is creating a fan page on Facebook and then in a subsiquent issue we will look at creating an ad for your business and drive traffic that way.
The first component of creating a fan page is that you must have a valid Facebook account. If you need assistance with that you can contact me or just go to your nearest college student for help on that. As long as you have an account setup you are then ready to go. The first trick is locating the setup for your pages. The easiest way that I have found to do this is to look at the bottom left of your web browser to an icon that looks like this:

Once you have clicked on that then you will come to a page that looks like the following – you will want to click on the link that says Pages to create a page (Create an Ad will take you the Pay-per-Impression or pay-per-click page that will setup those side ads you always see on facebook and you pay per anytime someones sees your ad or clicks on it depending on the method you setup – you can really narrow it down, but more on that later)

Once you have clicked on Pages you will come to a screen that has the following – click on Create a Page

You then will come to the page where you can give your page a name and category.

Put in your details and Create your page. You now have created a fan page.

An important thing about Facebook fan pages, blogs, and any other social media is that you do not want to create it and forget it. You need to spend time on it to keep people coming back for more. Give them a reason to be interested in your company and what you offer on a regular basis. I will soon be creating a post around using online coupons and Google Local as well.
Check back and see Part 2 & Part 3 where we will discuss how to import your blog and how and why you should create ads.
I hope that you are able to find this beneficial for your business.
